Bookworm

During our infertility struggle I read hundreds of articles, studies, blogs & books to learn more about our situation. I scoured the internet & like most of us, became an unwitting authority on IF. When we became pregnant I did the same, read, read, read. Why oh why did I not continue that path once Cooper arrived? Since my last post I have filled my head with so much baby info through the books "Babywise" & "Baby Love" and what do you know? I'm LEARNING stuff!
Our sleep situation is improving everyday. I know lots more about poo, or lack of, about red cheeks & tongue poking & cracked ears! Fascinating stuff!
Read, kids.
Books are for nerds.
And nerds are resoundingly more well rested.

That's so great to hear. Sleep deprivation SUX.

Cooper looks wonderfully different in every photo! In this one, he looks like a mountain sherpa.

Hi Mony

Am so glad that things are starting to look up.

My fav are Kid wrangler by Kaz Cook and Baby Love by Robin Barker.
I also really like what to expect in the first 12 months and there was nothing like picking up the lasted baby magazine..

Cooper is looking like you more and more every day...Just beautiful.

Have a great weekend,
Dan x

I've never been much of a reader. In my case a short video was what saved us. About sleepy signs. This is how we did it with our twins. They now sleep 11 hrs non-stop per night and 2hrs or more in the day. Worth a try!

The video taught us to recognize the classic sleepy signs: yawning, whinging, crying, rubbing eyes, a blank stare, etc. As soon as the bub shows any of these you put him in bed and you leave. If you are too late they get over tired and much harder to settle.

Crying can be a part of the process of going to sleep. Let him cry for a few minutes (4 minutes for a 4 month old, 5 for a 5 month old). Then you go in. Don't speak, don't pick him up as this will all wake him up more. Settle him in his cot and leave again. Repeat as many times as necessary. (Look at the clock when the crying minutes feels like eternity!)

Once he gets up, change, feed, play and after 2 or 3 hours he is probably ready for a repeat cycle. After a while a schedule starts to appear. Three sleeps at set times, later two sleeps. At 22 months we're just back to one big afternoon sleep.

The babies set their own schedule but the more regular we stuck to it the better they slept in the day. And strangely the better they slept in the day, the better they slept at night!

Good luck and keep us up to date how you're getting on!

Our babies need to meet. Poopee and Cooper should get together during their nap times and maybe let the mummies get some rest.

Poopee still doesn't sleep through (she's one). It doesn't really bother me much - but only because I am used to it. :( She need COMPLETE SILENCE to sleep. It sometimes do my head in.

But her cuteness makes up for everything. :)

I also like Healhy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and Happiest Baby on the Block and Toddler on the Block. And Annabell Karmel has some really good baby food books.

He's beautiful, just remember that for now give him those extra weeks to catch up because of being a preemie.

With my boys (born at 31.6) they were just about"caught up" after about 15 months and at 6 yrs old now they are bigger and smarter than most... of course this is my humble opinion. :)
