Bend & Stretch..

At last, I agree with a topic written about in my "Pregnancy For Imbeciles" book. Pregnancy makes you clumsy. I have indeed, morphed into a doofus-y klutz. Daily I drop things, I smash things, I tip cups over, spill lunch, fumble, trip over my shadow...you get the idea. Apparently the joints in your hands become relaxed & you don't grip things as tight as you normally would. It is quite bizarre. I am also on stretch mark alert. So far, I have not a one. But each morning & feel a little tighter, a little itchier & know it would be unusual to escape without getting the buggers. I haven't been doing "The Dance of 1000 Creams" (thanks Pat) I guess I am happy enough to leave it up to fate.
I feel Hef every now & then. I wish there was a little more activity. The movements are subtle, enough to captivate me & then leave me desperate for more. "Hello Baby" I say & touch my belly. I stayed at my brothers house through the week, my 6 month old niece woke several times through the night. I lay listening to my SIL soothe her & warm a bottle in the pitch black kitchen. I was thinking "that will be me soon".....and in agreeance, Hef gave a little kick. Just you wait.

I basically leave the stretch marks up to fate too. I tried using the special creams and stuff when pregnant with my daughter (hated them, they were thick and stinky!) and I got a bunch of stretch marks anyways. So this time around I put regular lotion on when I think of it or feel itchy, otherwise why worry about it? Stretch marks are a badge of honor in my opinion, just like my c-section scar! ;)

Enjoy those little movements - before you know it, they'll turn into jarring kicks in the kidneys, ribs, etc. Still wonderful to feel, but ouch! ;)

I guess in a way that makes me lucky? With all of my dancing up and down the scale, I already have stretch marks...so I guess I won't be concerned with them. Some women never get them, maybe you won't!

errr, I had stretch marks before I got PG... but didn't get any new ones ... until the end.. I blame it on Lil'Mooey being 10 days overdue.... (well that's my excuse..)

When I wake up in the middle of the night I focus all my attention on the belly hoping that I'll feel the elusive "quickening." Nothing yet... just heartburn.

I have faded stretch marks on my breasts from puberty. One day I was flat, the next day I was womanly. I remember in my pre-algebra class the black-haired boy who was seated next to me said when I walked in the door, 'What the hell did you eat for dinner last night?? YOU GREW.' It makes me laugh now, but at the time I was mortified.

I am doing the dance of a thousand creams. I feel like a greased sow.

I am dancing - call me Dancing Queen. Don't know if I'll get the hated strech marks but really hope not but then again I guess you can't do anything really anyways.

Speaking about clumbsy - that's me. Terribly clumbsy, it's a miracle I haven't hurt myself any more than falling down the stairs :-S

Like, Heather, I already have my share of stretch marks, some have been with me since age 11! For me, it's like, "Ah, what're a few more to me?"

I know women who went nutso with the creams and still got them, so you may be wise to just let your skin do what it'll do.

Feeling those little kicks is the best!

At my prenatal class, I was told to use a regular lotion or almond oil and my husband was told to massage it in. That part I like especially. :-)

i don't have any marks yet either, but it may be because my belly had already done a good bit of stretching before pregnancy :)

i do put on my regular lotion to keep the itchiness at bay. someone gave me a gift with some belly butter in it but it just makes me feel greasy, like spanglish said.

The title of your post is now stuck in my head. "Bend, and stretch ... reach for the stars. There goes Jupiter, here comes Mars."

Remember Romper Room!! :)

MONY my dear!

I'm sorry I haven't written sooner. I had trouble with blogger that I couldn't straighten out until now. BUT I've been lurking and following your journey. I am SO SO SO thrilled for you - with or without stretchmarks.

And I love your poem to Hef a few posts back.

Know that even if I don't post I'm thinking of you and wishing you well.
