The Happy Broken Heart

I got me a brand new neice yesterday.
She is the cherry on top for my brother who has 2 wonderful sons. His excitement yesterday was so sweet. He sent a barrage of pictures & video direct to my phone from the maternity ward. The first one was baby, wide eyed, swaddled & perfect. The message read "Here I Am".
Oh, baby girl! ......here you are.

I am going to meet her face to face tonight. I am excited, naturally. But even here & now, 100 kms away I feel tears sting each time I think about holding her, surrounded by all the new Mother's, drunk with baby love.

Wish me & my sober heart strength, peace & dry eyeballs. I'm going in.......

I close my eyes & say a little prayer...Please God let it be her turn next...surely she has waited long enough...she has shown you how brave she is, how resiliant....she has suffered more than most...and yet still she doesn't give up...Please God, let it be her turn next.

Welcome M.G.W....your Aunty Mony loves you...

Now is the time for your SIL to have a private room. May your neice work her magic and may you see no other mothers drunk with baby love.

Thinking of you Mony and hoping the visit isn't too bittersweet.

Happy and sad at the same time -- it's difficult, that's for sure.

Wishing you strength and some happiness for tonight's visit.

Bittersweet, bittersweet.

I remember choking down the tears on several occasions. I loathe feeling like that.

Dry eyes to you!

Deep breaths ...
Hope it all goes well, expect the tears in the car on the way back.
Take care.
