My Son, Cooper...

I was discharged from hospital yesterday.
I am glad to be home. My God. My mind still hasn't processed what has happened. It has been a terrifying, agonising, exhilerating time. Thanks to Kay for such a beautiful entry I cry everytime I read her post.
Our darling son will be staying in special care for abut 5 weeks. I have held him on 3 occasions. He can only come out of the crib when well enough. He is breathing on his own, he has bouts of jaundice, bouts of Nil By Mouth...but today is back on milk (1 mil every 4 hours) which seems insane, but all his little tummy can process.

I will travel to the hospital as often as my health allows to deliver his milk & gaze upon his perfect being. I am being as strong & sensible as I can. Knowing he is in tremendous hands, even though they are not my own.

Although we still wait...He is here.
And the love that Peter & I feel for Cooper has altered our lives forever.

Congrats! Hang in there on the hospital. I was there 2 months with Princess and it sucked leaving her. For the first month, we couldn't even hold her. Is he eating on his own on ng tube fed? I'm so glad to hear he's breathing well. I pray he continues to grow stronger each day and will be home with you before you know it.

Sounds like little Cooper is getting wonderful care - and all the love from his mama and daddy certainly help! I can't even imagine how scary and hard this is for you - thank God he is doing well. With any luck, he'll have a speedy recovery and come home sooner than expected. Hang in there!

BTW, he's adorable and you look great for someone who's been through hell! ;)

Oh Mony.
He's incredible. I will pray that he grows stronger and quicker than the doctors estimated so that he can be home in his Mummy and Daddy's arms soon.

Congratulations again.

He is so beautiful. We will pray for all of you. I am feeling much like a bovine right now. I get up, pump, go to the NICU every morning for the little one's feedings, then pump when I am there, then go home and do it all over again when the hubby gets home. I wish our hospital was closer. Get some rest....that is what everyone is telling me to do.

Oh, and losing 30 lbs in one week has been really terrific too..... I'm below my pre-pregnancy weight. :0)

I'll check in with you later....

De-lurking again, to say that he is beautiful. Sending you as much courage and strength you will need to recover, and lots of patience for the next 5 weeks, when you are wanting 1st what is best for your baby and 2nd wanting him to be able to go with you. Good luck with everything. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Oh thank you for sharing the pictures. He is gorgeous. The NICU is an exhausting experience but he is in great hands. Even though it is hard not being with him 24/7, just think of this as your parenting 101 course!

NICU nurses are fabulous and will teach you all the tricks (like bathing a new born, they have great technique)! Try to get lots of rest!

He's beautiful. I teared up when reading your post. Most of the tears were happy tears, thinking about your joy in finally meeting your son. A few of the tears were sad tears, thinking about how hard it must be to leave him in the hospital.

Congratulations my dear. I hope that those 5 weeks fly by, and he is home and in your arms very soon.

he looks adorable and sweet and according to your post he is doing quite ok, being in the best hands he can be in (right after being in yours of course). You'll have him home soon, your healthy little boy. Very very happy for you Mony. I hope you will soon be doing better as well. How are you? Kay wrote about the kidney blockage, how is that one healing? Take good care of yourself and little Cooper. The older he gets the more you get to hold him. HUGS.

Mony! Congratulations!! Cooper is beautiful! I know it's hard to leave the hospital w/o your baby. I delivered my boys at 31 weeks, it was so hard then, but they are 5 now and have no issues related to being preemies!
